Halifax Panthers Under 19s Academy, is the only official pathway to the Halifax Panther’s first team. The Academy allows student athletes studying at Calderdale College to begin their rugby career with a professional league club. After many seasons of successful and talented men coming through the college pathway, in 2022 the first women’s academy pathway was established.

Both academy teams had successful 2023 campaigns, with the women’s academy making it into the seasonal finals and missing out narrowly on the win.

The academy teams boast of numbers and talent, with students completing several courses at Calderdale College.

If you live, breathe and sleep Rugby, then the college pathway is for you. Our pathway is a unique opportunity for you to develop the knowledge and expertise you need for a career in the industry, or to further your study at university.

Head coaches Andy Holleyhead, Adam Tangata and Kara Colvin are positive about the 2023/24 campaign and will continue to develop the rugby skills amongst both academies and strive for more success stories ensuring more players come through the pathway to first team places.

Will Calcutt is a perfect success story to partake in the pathway scheme, after showing great skills during his academy time at the college he has progressed his career and just recently was part of the winning Halifax Panthers side who triumphed over Batley Bulldogs at Wembley to win the 1895 AB Sundecks cup.
